A. Key Responsibilities
The Monitoring and Evaluation specialist will be responsible for:
- Supporting the effective and good quality implementation of partner projects
- Developing partner organizations’ capacities when it comes to monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL)
- Advising partner organisations regarding MEL-related aspects in the design and implementation of partner projects
- Supporting the preparation and implementation of potential additional Call for Proposals for Sudanese CSOs
- Contributing to reporting and knowledge-management and -sharing
The Monitoring and Evaluation specialist performs the following tasks:
B. Specific Tasks
1. Support with monitoring and evaluation of partner projects:
- Provide feedback, advice, and hands-on support to partner organizations with various aspects such as logframes, data collection tools and methods, and gender-and conflict-sensitivity of M&E processes
- Support in the collection, consolidation, and quality assurance of M&E data submitted by partner organizations
- Advise the project partners on using the programme’s M&E digital platform to submit data
- Support data validation efforts and oversight of third-party monitoring
2. Contribute to the programme-wide MEL system:
- Contribute to the design and coordination of qualitative and quantitative assessments informing the programme design
- Contribute to reporting to the commissioning party including narrative progress reports and requests for information
- Support in developing further data collection tools for the programme
- Contribute to programme dashboards
- Contribute to learning activities e.g., learning agendas, reflection sessions and lessons learned briefs
3. Support communications activities:
- Draft programme fact sheets for internal and external use
- Contribute to impact communication efforts e.g., success or impact stories as needed
- Contribute to GIZ Sudan’s external communications activities e.g., on social media

- Perform other duties and tasks at the request of management.
