Job Description
Driver
Salary Scale: PU15

Job Purpose
To drive and maintain the Institute vehicle in accordance with the transport policy; and as directed by the supervising officer.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Driving vehicles for official duty and assignments.
- Carrying out basic maintenance and cleanliness of the vehicle.
- Reporting major technical mechanical faults and status of insurance of the vehicle to the supervising officer.
- Maintaining basic records regarding the vehicles as instructed.
- Ensuring the safety of the vehicle while on duty.
Person Specifications
Academic Qualifications
- A Uganda Certificate of Education with a credit in English.
- Valid Driving Permit.
- Certificate in defensive driving.
Work Experience
- Two (2) years driving experience.

- Equated certificates from the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) for all foreign academic qualifications.
- A copy of the National Identity Card (NIN).
- Copies of previous appointment letters.
- Serving officers must attach copies of their current payslips.
Applicants should clearly indicate “Application for the Post of ……………” on the envelope.
Applications that are incorrectly addressed or do not include the required documents will not be considered.
Additional Information
- Age Limit: Applicants should be 45 years or below at the time of application, except for the position of Dean of Students, where the maximum age is 55 years.
- Tenure of Appointment: Positions on Salary Scales PU1–PU3 are offered on a contract basis. Positions on Salary Scales PU4–PU15 are permanent, subject to successful completion of a six-month probationary period.
