Job Advert: Senior Mechanic
Employment Type: Full-time
On behalf of our client, Automobile company we seek to recruit and interview for Senior Mechanic. The Senior Mechanic will be responsible for overseeing vehicle diagnostics, repairs, servicing, and workshop operations.
Key Responsibilities
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in vehicles using appropriate diagnostic equipment.
• Carry out major and minor vehicle servicing and repairs.
• Inspect vehicles before purchase, sale, or delivery to customers.
• Perform engine, transmission, suspension, braking, steering, and electrical repairs.
• Supervise and guide junior mechanics and workshop assistants.
• Ensure all vehicles are repaired and serviced according to manufacturer specifications.
• Conduct road tests and quality checks after repairs.
• Identify potential mechanical problems and recommend appropriate corrective action.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, servicing, parts used, and vehicle inspections.
• Advise management on vehicle condition, repair costs, and required replacement parts.
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of workshop tools and equipment.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment.
• Ensure compliance with company safety and quality standards.
Required Qualifications & Experience
• Degree in Motor Vehicle Mechanics, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 5 years’ relevant experience as a motor vehicle mechanic, with proven senior or supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of modern petrol and diesel vehicles.
• Experience using vehicle diagnostic scanners and other automotive diagnostic equipment.
• Good knowledge of automotive electrical and electronic systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair different makes and models of vehicles.
• A valid driving licence is an added advantage.
• Ability to supervise and train junior mechanics.
• Good communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
• Honest, reliable, hardworking, and able to work with minimum supervision.
