Job Description
- Operate and clean continuous abrasive potato and plantain peeling units to support processing line operations.
- Monitor peel depth and yield loss continuously to maintain product quality and avoid material waste.
- Maintain high hygiene, safety, and operational standards while documenting line performance and coordinating with dependent departments.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate continuous abrasive peeling units according to approved start up, running, changeover, shutdown, and cleaning procedures.
- Verify that the work area, materials, and safety guards are properly set up before starting operations.
- Monitor peel depth, yield loss, and product condition continuously to ensure processing within specified parameters.
- Perform visual, dimensional, weight, and cleanliness checks, promptly isolating defective material from downstream processing.
- Execute minor operational adjustments strictly within authorized limits and call technical support for specialist mechanical faults.
- Execute end of run, product change, allergen control, and sanitation cleaning while protecting machine components, ingredients, and tools.
- Complete legible, traceable, and accurate checklists, logs, shift reports, and machine setting records at the time checks are conducted.
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, environmental, and occupational safety rules, including wearing personal protective equipment and observing lockout protocols.

Education Qualifications & Experience
Education Qualifications
- National Diploma or Ordinary Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Maintenance, Food Processing, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Production Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, Applied Sciences, or related technical disciplines.
- National Certificate, Craft Certificate, Technical Trade Certificate, or TVET qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Maintenance, Food Processing, or related technical areas.
- Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) for candidates with strong literacy, numeracy, safety awareness, and physical capability for attendant work.
- Machine specific training from a recognized employer or equipment supplier is recognized as supporting evidence of practical competence.

- No prior work experience required.
- Includes 2 weeks on site equipment operation training.
