Job Description

  • Monitor in line automatic checkweighers to verify weight accuracy across snack packaging lines.
  • Promptly separate and remove rejected underweight and overweight snack bags to prevent non compliant product from advancing.
  • Maintain packaging quality, operational standards, and traceability through continuous monitoring and diligent record keeping.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate in line checkweighers in accordance with approved start up, running, changeover, shutdown, and cleaning procedures.
  • Monitor weight parameters continuously to ensure snack packages remain within specified target tolerances.
  • Remove rejected under and overweight packages immediately to prevent further downstream processing or packing.
  • Verify reject mechanisms periodically to confirm that defective packs are accurately identified and sorted.
  • Perform routine visual, weight, seal, and cleanliness inspections at the assigned packaging station.
  • Make minor equipment adjustments strictly within authorized limits and escalate technical faults to maintenance technicians.
  • Keep complete, legible, and accurate weight logs and shift reports at the time checks are completed.
  • Execute product changeover, allergen control, and sanitation tasks to keep the work area clean and organized.
  • Follow all established food safety, hygiene, PPE, and occupational safety rules during daily shifts.

Skills

  • Weight parameter monitoring and reject mechanism verification
  • Visual defect recognition and product sorting
  • Basic machine operation, changeover, and authorized adjustment procedures
  • Accurate weight logging and basic digital or HMI interface operation
  • Food safety, personal hygiene, and workstation housekeeping compliance

Education Qualifications & Experience

Education Qualifications

  • Ordinary Diploma or National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Food Processing, Production Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, Applied Sciences, or Printing Technology
  • National Certificate, Craft Certificate, or Technical Trade Certificate in a related technical area
  • Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE / S.6) Certificate or Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE / S.4) with demonstrated literacy, numeracy, and mechanical aptitude
  • Relevant TVET training or recognized equipment specific operational training

Experience

  • No prior work experience required.
  • Includes 1 week on site calibration training.
