Job Description
- Lead the setup, operation, and maintenance of Vertical Form Fill Seal (VFFS) packaging units to ensure efficient and consistent production output.
- Protect product quality and packaging integrity by rigorously controlling machine parameters, gas flushing, and sealing conditions.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Set up bag formers and align packaging film to meet required pack specifications and prevent material waste.
- Adjust and calibrate heat sealing jaws to ensure reliable seal strength and package integrity.
- Calibrate and test gas flushing and nitrogen injection systems in accordance with established quality standards.
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and adjustments on VFFS units to sustain machine reliability and avoid unplanned downtime.
- Sequence daily packaging tasks based on production plans, material availability, and equipment capacity.
- Maintain accurate, legible, and traceable shift logs, machine setting records, and quality check sheets.
- Comply with all occupational safety, food safety, hygiene, and equipment lockout or isolation procedures during operation and maintenance.
- Coordinate cross functional handovers and guide packaging team members on standard operating methods.

Education Qualifications & Experience
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Ordinary Diploma, National Certificate, or Craft Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or an equivalent technical field.
- Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) supported by relevant vocational or technical training in packaging equipment.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience maintaining and operating VFFS packaging machines.
