Job Description
- Generates product orders and expands company market presence by visiting retail shops, wholesalers, kiosks, and food service outlets across assigned territories.
- Serves as the primary frontline contact to present products, support basic merchandising, foster retailer relationships, and gather ground level market intelligence.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Visit retail shops, wholesalers, market outlets, kiosks, and restaurants along planned daily routes to secure product orders.
- Check customer inventory levels, discuss replenishment needs, introduce new products, and encourage timely reordering.
- Enter customer orders accurately into mobile sales applications, order books, or approved sales systems.
- Comply strictly with established cash handling and receipt procedures whenever cash on delivery transactions are permitted.
- Inspect on shelf product visibility and assist retail stockists with basic merchandising and product arrangement.
- Identify potential new customer outlets and submit accurate account details for verification and onboarding.
- Report damaged, expired, or slow moving stock promptly according to established company policies.
- Gather field market information including competitor pricing, product availability, consumer preferences, and promotional activities.
- Document and submit daily reports detailing route coverage, order volumes, collected cash, and customer feedback while upholding ethical selling standards.
Skills
- Persuasive verbal communication, active listening, and customer relationship building.
- Basic numeracy and disciplined cash handling capability.
- Competence in utilizing mobile sales applications and completing sales order records.
- Route planning, customer service focus, and resilience in field sales environments.
- Basic retail merchandising and market observation skills.
Education Qualifications & Experience
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree, Diploma, Certificate, National Certificate, or vocational business qualification in Marketing, Business Administration, Commerce, Sales, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Procurement, Social Sciences, Communication, Public Relations, Agriculture, or related fields.
- Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) trainees and school leavers.
Experience
- No prior work experience required.
- Onboarding covers products, pricing, sales techniques, route planning, order systems, customer service, cash procedures, merchandising, and ethical selling.
