JOB OPPORTUNITY
DEPUTY PROGRAMMES CONTROLLER/PRESENTER – ARUA ONE FM
Position: DEPUTY PROGRAMMES CONTROLLER/PRESENTER – ARUA ONE FM
Reports to: STATION MANAGER
JOB PURPOSE
Ensure that presenters deliver shows that are appealing to the target audience by effectively producing radio shows that grow audiences and generate revenue.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Producing daily radio shows to grow audiences and generate revenue by:
• Researching on current events/affairs relevant to the target audience
• Creating saleable segments for the respective shows
• Preparing and writing scripts that will guide the presenters
• Prepping the presenters before going on air
• Conducting daily on-air review of the shows
• Conducting on air interviews with clients
Produce and present the daily show allocated to him to keep the audiences engaged and informed by:
• Researching on relevant educative topics
• Drawing the show script
• Rehearsing for on air delivery
• Where applicable gather content e.g. vox pox, interviews
• Identify, prep and host guest on the show where applicable
Moderate the Saturday political talk show in an informative and competitive way to attract and maintain target audience by:
• Identifying topical issues to be discussed in the program.
• Researching about the topic and scripting for the program.
• Mobilizing guests relevant to the chosen topic from Political, social, economic, cultural, religious & civil society circles.
• Keeping hard file for copies of the program prep sheet approved and used.
Participate in managing the day-to-day operations of the programming section to ensure compliance and smooth work processes by:
• Supervising performance of presenters on a daily
• Holding weekly programming review and
• Submitting weekly programming reports to the station manager
• Holding monthly one on one meetings with presenters
EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication
WORKING EXPERIENCE
At least 3 years in a competitive Radio/TV content development environment
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Technical Skills
1. Digital Publishing & CMS Mastery:
• Expert use of WordPress, keywords, and Google Trends / Google News optimization. Audience Analytics: Google Analytics 4.
2. Multimedia Production:
• Mobile Journalism (MoJo): Shoot, edit video on phone – CapCut, Adobe Premiere Rush,
• Audio: Basic podcast editing – Audacity, Adobe Audition for news podcasts and radio cuts,
• Broadcast software; cool edit, adobe audition, imediatouch, jazzler, RCS, news boss
• Visuals: Photo selection and basic editing – Lightroom, Photoshop, Canva. Creating thumbnails, infographics, and social cards.
3. Social & Distribution Skills.
4. Language Proficiency
• Proficient in written and spoken Lugbarati and English
