Company Description
The Judicial Service Commission is a constitutional body established under the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda to support the effective administration of justice by managing human resource and disciplinary matters within the Judiciary. It operates independently to safeguard the integrity, professionalism, and accountability of judicial officers and staff, thereby strengthening public confidence in the justice system.
The Commission is responsible for recruiting, appointing, confirming, promoting, and exercising disciplinary control over judicial officers and other staff of the Judiciary, excluding those whose appointments are handled by the President. It also advises the President on the appointment of judges and provides guidance on matters relating to the administration and efficiency of the courts. In addition, the Commission handles complaints from the public concerning the conduct of judicial officers and ensures that appropriate action is taken where necessary.
Through its oversight and advisory functions, the Judicial Service Commission promotes fairness, transparency, and high professional standards within the justice sector. By ensuring that competent and ethical personnel serve in the Judiciary, the Commission contributes to improved service delivery, the rule of law, and access to justice for all citizens.
