Company Description
Pride Bank, formerly known as Pride Microfinance Limited, is a leading Tier II credit institution in Uganda that specializes in providing inclusive financial solutions to economically active individuals and small enterprises. Established in 1995 with the support of the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation, the institution evolved from a non-governmental organization into a fully government-owned entity in 2003. On April 29, 2025, it officially rebranded to Pride Bank Limited after being granted a credit institution license by the Bank of Uganda, marking a significant milestone in its 30-year history of serving the “base of the pyramid”.
The bank’s operational framework is built around a vast network of over 40 fully connected branches and contact offices spread across Uganda, from Arua to Mbarara. Its core service suite includes a diverse range of loan products such as agricultural, school fees, and asset financing loans, alongside specialized credit for women and the “boda boda” sector. These are complemented by flexible savings products, including youth accounts, fixed deposits, and the “Save As You Earn” scheme, all designed to foster economic resilience and promote a savings culture among low-to-middle-income earners.
Under the leadership of a Board of Directors chaired by Fred Jachan Omach and a management team led by Managing Director Veronicah Namagembe, Pride Bank remains committed to its mission of transforming lives responsibly. As a regulated Tier II institution, customer deposits are protected by the Deposit Protection Fund of Uganda, ensuring a high standard of security and trust. Through strategic partnerships with international bodies like UNCDF and SDC, the bank continues to innovate its digital and financial infrastructure to ensure no Ugandan is left out of the formal economy.
