Company Description
The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) is the official government agency responsible for the assessment and certification of learners at the primary and secondary levels. Established by an Act of Parliament, the board ensures that national education standards are maintained through the design and administration of standardized tests. It operates under the Ministry of Education and Sports and is headquartered in Kyambogo, Kampala, where it oversees the secure production and marking of millions of examination scripts each year.
The board is primarily known for managing the three major examination cycles: the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE), the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), and the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE). These exams determine the academic progression of students into higher levels of learning or the workforce. To maintain the credibility of these certificates, the board has implemented strict security measures and legal frameworks to combat examination malpractice, including the prosecution of individuals who leak papers or engage in impersonation.
In recent years, the organization has undergone a significant digital transformation to improve service delivery and efficiency. This includes the introduction of an online registration portal for schools, digital systems for checking results via mobile phones, and electronic portals for verifying academic documents. These advancements have reduced the time required for administrative processes and made it easier for candidates and employers to confirm the authenticity of academic records from anywhere in the country.
