Job purpose:

The Battery Lead ensures maximum battery uptime, predictable turnaround time, and strong asset governance across service centers, swap stations, and field escalations.

- Deliver repair performance against KPIs (TAT/SLA, FTFR, repeat failure reduction, audit score, defect leakage).
- Enforce strict EHS/HV safety discipline: isolation verification, LOTO, PPE, incident containment, near-miss reporting and closure.
- Lead RCA for top recurring faults; implement CAPA with owners, timelines, and closure evidence.
- Own spares escalation and ordering: forecasting/min-max, urgent escalations, lead-time tracking; align with parts/procurement/finance.
- Ensure tooling and test equipment readiness: availability, calibration, serviceability; maintain ESD controls and safe work zones.
- Plan and schedule resources (shift plan, workload balancing, priority queue management); coach technicians and run competence checks.
- Provide weekly/monthly reporting to Country After sales Manager and dotted-line governance to Africa O&M; publish dashboards and action trackers.
- Coordinate cross-functionally with Energy, Quality, IoT/Diagnostics, Procurement, Finance, and EHS for rapid issue resolution.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS.
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
- 3 –6 years’ experience in EV battery service/maintenance/operations (lithium-ion), including 1–2 years in a lead/supervisory role.
- Demonstrated experience managing repair operations: workflow control, backlog management, parts coordination, KPI delivery.
- Strong understanding of battery safety and high-voltage working practices.
- Exposure to battery swap operations and high-uptime service networks.
- Familiarity with BMS concepts and diagnostic data interpretation (logs/bench testing; CAN exposure is a plus).
- Working knowledge of Lean/Kaizen and structured problem solving (5-Why, Fishbone, basic FMEA).
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Workshop-based leadership with nationwide coordination across service centers and swap sites; travel as required.
- May require shift/extended hours support during incidents or high backlog periods.
- Strict compliance with PPE and battery safety protocols is non-negotiable.
