Designation: Chef

Office Location: Kampala

Position description: To oversee kitchen operations, manage culinary teams, and ensure the preparation of high-quality meals while maintaining food safety, hygiene, and cost control standards.

Primary Responsibilities:

Plan and design menus based on seasonal availability, customer preferences, and budget
Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring efficient workflow and high performance
Monitor food preparation and presentation for consistency and quality
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations (ISO, HACCP)
Manage inventory, order supplies, and control food costs
Handle customer feedback and resolve food-related complaints professionally
Stay updated on culinary trends and introduce innovative dishes and techniques
Implement performance management practices including KPIs and staff development
Implement “Performance Management the Alliad Way” by setting KPI’s for direct reports (if assigned any), conduct regular reviews, identify training requirements and provide a coaching, mentoring and supportive role.
Ensures adherence to quality standards and applicable regulatory requirements in Food Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, and Environment.

Educational qualifications preferred

  • Category: Diploma or degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, or related field An MBA or advanced degree in a related field is advantageous.

Required work experience

  • Years of experience: 3–5 years of experience

Work Environment Details

    • Work performed in kitchen and food preparation areas with exposure to heat, humidity, and sharp equipment.
    • Requires strict adherence to hygiene and food safety standards under time-sensitive conditions.
    • High-pressure environment during peak service times and special events; occasional extended hours.
