Our client is a leading player in Uganda’s automotive and mobility sector, with a strong presence in the motorcycle market. The organization specializes in the distribution and retail of motorcycles, spare parts, after-sales services, local motorcycle assembly, and asset financing, supported by a growing branch and distribution network across Uganda. Its financing business provides customers with access to motorcycle finance and is expanding into smartphone financing, creating an integrated business across mobility, retail, and financial services.
Position Summary
The Content Manager will own the company’s content engine from ideas, hooks, scripts, and formats through to production and publishing. The role will work closely with the existing production team to consistently create high-performing short-form content across TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, X, Snapchat, WhatsApp, and other relevant platforms.
The role requires someone who is highly creative, culturally fluent, hands-on, and comfortable being on the ground finding talent, understanding the target audience, directing shoots, working with influencers, and turning insights into engaging content that performs.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Identify and own the content calendar, including skits, comedy formats, community-engagement content, trend-jacking, and other relevant content formats.
- Manage content across social media platforms including TikTok, X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, WhatsApp, and other relevant channels.
- Own the company’s overall social-media output, including captions, templates, messaging, communication style, and how effectively content communicates to the target audience.
- Write strong hooks and scripts and own the full idea-to-script-to-shoot-to-post pipeline.
- Gatekeep content quality and ensure all content meets the required creative and brand standards before going live.
- Direct creative short-form videos and work with hired influencers to produce highly engaging content.
- Work closely with the Brand Designer, editors, and cameraman-editor to ensure consistent, high-quality, and standardised output across social channels.
- Direct the cameraman-editor and editors on the ground; plan shoots, recurring formats, characters, and content series.
- Move extensively across branches and other locations to identify the right talent, stories, and opportunities for content creation.
- Engage directly with the target audience on the ground to understand what content they respond to and use these insights to shape future content.
- Collaborate with influencers and other creators to develop creative and highly engaging content.
- Monitor content performance and use audience response, trends, and platform performance to continuously improve content formats and output.
- Ensure the content team maintains a consistent publishing rhythm and continuously develops new formats and ideas.
Qualification and Experience
- 5- 8 years proven experience as a social-media content creator, content strategist, or similar role, with a track record of producing short-form content that has performed well.
- Strong understanding of hooks, content formats, trends, audience engagement, and what makes short-form content perform.
- Strong creative writing and scripting ability, particularly for short-form video and social media.
- Local and culturally fluent, with a strong understanding of boda riders, mechanics, young Ugandan men, and the wider target audience.
- Comfortable directing shoots and working hands-on with cameramen, editors, designers, influencers, and other creative talent.
- Willing and able to travel extensively to branches and work directly with customers and target audiences.
- Strong understanding of TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, X, Snapchat, and WhatsApp content.
- Highly energetic, creative, and proactive, with the ability to turn everyday situations, people, and customer interactions into engaging content.
- Able to write and communicate creatively in Luganda, English, and other relevant Ugandan languages or dialects.
