Reports To: Head Teacher

1. Job Purpose

To direct, monitor and evaluate academic and administrative programmes of the school, and support the Head Teacher in ensuring effective teaching, learning and overall institutional management.

2. Key Outputs

• Schemes of work and lesson plans prepared, and teaching conducted according to the approved timetable.
• The Head Teacher assisted in the overall administration and management of the school.
• Non-teaching and support staff supervised.
• School records, material resources, facilities and information services effectively managed.
• Discipline maintained among pupils and staff.
• Curriculum implementation coordinated and monitored.
• School environment maintained and renovations coordinated.
• Management Committee meetings properly documented.
• Periodic curriculum reviews coordinated.
• Internal and external examinations properly administered and supervised.
• Academic plans, programmes and school timetables prepared.
• Education Sector reforms relating to primary education implemented.

3. Key Functions and Responsibilities

• Preparing schemes of work and lesson plans, and teaching pupils according to the approved timetable and curriculum requirements.
• Assisting the Head Teacher in the overall administration, management and coordination of school activities.
• Supervising non-teaching and support staff to ensure effective performance and delivery of support services.
• Ensuring proper management, maintenance and accountability of school records, material resources, facilities and information services.
• Enforcing discipline among pupils and staff in accordance with established school rules and regulations.
• Organising, coordinating and supporting the effective management and implementation of the school curriculum.
• Overseeing and coordinating general environmental maintenance, sanitation, repairs and renovations at the school.
• Serving as the Minute Secretary to the School Management Committee and ensuring that accurate minutes and records of meetings are maintained.
• Coordinating periodic reviews of the school curriculum to improve the quality and relevance of teaching and learning.
• Ensuring the integrity, security and proper administration and supervision of internal and external examinations.
• Preparing and coordinating academic plans, programmes, schedules and school timetables.
• Monitoring teaching and learning activities and advising the Head Teacher on areas requiring improvement.
• Supporting teachers through guidance, mentoring and professional development to enhance instructional effectiveness.
• Participating in the implementation of Education Sector reforms, policies and programmes relating to primary education.
• Preparing and submitting periodic reports on academic performance, school administration and other assigned responsibilities.
• Promoting a safe, clean, healthy and inclusive learning environment for all pupils, including learners with special educational needs.
• Performing any other duties assigned by the Head Teacher in furtherance of the school’s objectives.

4. Person Specifications

A. Academic and Professional Qualifications

• Must possess a minimum of a Diploma in Primary Education or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
• Must be registered with the Ministry of Education and Sports.
• Must have attended at least three (3) workshops or seminars and three (3) short courses relevant to the profession.
• Must have a minimum of twelve (12) years of teaching experience as
