  • As a leading global refugee-led organization (RLO) driving systemic change, Refugees Seeking Equal Access at the Table (R-SEAT) works to operationalize meaningful refugee participation as a tool to enhance the responses of the global refugee system.
  • We’re seeking a Communications Lead who is driven, tech-savvy, creative, and prepared to lead on all Communications work for a fast-moving, international team.
  • Over the past few years, R-SEAT has harnessed the power of strategic communications to elevate refugees and refugee-led organizations, and we want to drive this impact further.
  • This role is based in Mexico, Colombia, Lebanon, Syria, Kenya, or Uganda, and candidates with lived experience of forced displacement are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Applicants with advocacy or organizing experience are also highly encouraged to apply.
  • Please note: Only applicants based in the listed countries will be considered.
  • Applications not meeting this criterion will not be processed.
  • If you are ready to drive this movement, connect its actors, and create lasting impact, we want to hear from you.
About R-SEAT
  • R-SEAT is an international RLO working to enhance the effectiveness of global refugee responses by co-designing transparent, structured, and institutionalized refugee advisory mechanisms.
  • These mechanisms amplify and activate refugee leadership ecosystems and increase the participation of refugees at state levels in a meaningful, sustainable, and transformative way.
  • Our work centers on three key pillars:
  • Engage:
    • R-SEAT collaborates with strategic partners, including building capacity and securing commitments from governments, to establish refugee advisory mechanisms at the national level.
    • These mechanisms institutionalize meaningful refugee participation in the global refugee system as a tool to enhance its outcomes and responses.
  • Amplify:
    • R-SEAT shifts the narrative surrounding RLOs and refugee leaders, positioning them as critical, respected, and recognized partners in shaping refugee responses at all levels.
  • Connect:
    • R-SEAT facilitates dynamic connections between refugees, RLOs, and other stakeholders such as private philanthropy, governments, and INGOs, creating a reciprocal network that promotes knowledge-sharing and resource mobilization.
As the Communications Lead, you will platform and enhance R-SEAT’s mission by:
  • Creating Strategic Communications Materials:
    • Designing compelling, accessible, and visually engaging content tailored to diverse audiences to effectively broadcast and elevate our work.
  • Supporting the Refugee Leadership Ecosystem:
    • Identify key opportunities for advocates with lived experience of forced displacement and elevating their voices for broader visibility and impact.
  • Enhancing Our Amplify Work:
    • Shifting the narrative on refugee leadership by showcasing transformative stories, achievements, and insights with a global audience.
  • Strategizing Advocacy for Impact:
    • Leveraging social media and other communication channels to share calls to action, key updates, and messages that mobilize and unite our networks.
  • Growing Our reach:
    • Expanding and energizing R-SEAT’s communications presence across platforms to strengthen engagement, broaden our community, and deepen our influence.
We want someone bold, visionary, and driven to create meaningful change. You must:
  • Be based in Mexico, Colomia, Lebanon, Syria, Kenya, or Uganda.
  • Be passionate about refugee issues and skilled at building communities.
  • Have a strong sense of creativity and an eye for design.
  • Have the technical skills to utilize design platforms, mailing systems, and other relevant tools.
  • Be a fluent and professional communicator in English.
  • Be able to travel regionally, and preferably internationally.
  • Embrace flexibility and thrive in a remote-work environment.
  • Have strong leadership skills, be self-motivated, and take initiative and ownership over tasks and outcomes.
Strong candidates will also:
  • Have lived experience of forced displacement.
  • Please refer to R-SEAT’s definition of lived experience of forced displacement: https://www.instagram.com/refugeesseat/
  • Have strong knowledge and/or experience of regional forced displacement processes and initiatives regionally or globally.
  • Be familiar with global governance structures and global refugee initiatives such as the Global Compact for Refugees and the Global Refugee Forum.

  • A chance to lead a transformative movement in a fast-growing, mission-driven organization.
  • A full-time position with a competitive salary aligned with the market rates for managerial or senior managerial roles in the applicant’s country of residence, ensuring equity and recognition of experience and qualifications.
