KAGIS (Keeping A Girl in School) Coordinator

Reports to: Programme Coordinator

Job Purpose

The KAGIS (Keeping A Girl in School) Coordinator coordinates the implementation of KAGIS programmes to ensure vulnerable girls are retained in school, empowered with life skills, and supported to achieve holistic transformation through collaborative community initiatives.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Plan and implement KAGIS interventions across supported schools, focusing on enrolment, retention, and progression.
  • Design interventions addressing barriers to education such as menstrual health, dropouts, and early marriages.
  • Oversee selection, onboarding, and exit processes for partner schools.
  • Develop annual and termly programme plans, budgets, and targets.
  • Participate in the design and rollout of new programme initiatives and innovations.
  • Collaborate with Integrated Case Workers to track at-risk girls and coordinate follow-up actions.
  • Monitor adherence to child follow-up protocols and escalation procedures.
  • Oversee identification and management of child protection and wellbeing concerns.
  • Lead monitoring of child growth and safe nurturing within school environments, including WASH standards.
  • Mobilise community stakeholders and engage leaders to promote child wellbeing and formulate supportive by-laws.
  • Identify harmful cultural and social practices and implement behaviour change interventions.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with education authorities, churches, and community stakeholders to support holistic child development.
  • Use data and case insights to inform advocacy, decision-making, and programme improvement.
  • Track and analyse key indicators including attendance, retention, performance, and wellbeing, ensuring data-driven programming.
  • Oversee accurate and timely data entry into the Management Information System and coordinate with Monitoring & Evaluation teams.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop KAGIS Community Workers, conduct performance reviews, and promote safeguarding, accountability, and compliance with legal frameworks while addressing risks and incidents promptly.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Gender Studies, Community Development, Child Development, Social Work, Educational Psychology, or a related field.
  • Additional training in Child Protection, Gender, Education, and Community Approaches is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in education programmes, child development, or child-focused community work.
  • Experience working with community structures, schools, children, and caregivers.
  • Proven experience in case management or child safeguarding.
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating and implementing education and child development programmes within community or school-based settings.
  • A discipled, committed, and consistent Christian aligned with Watoto values.
  • A committed, consistent, and discipled Christian who demonstrates spiritual maturity and active engagement in discipleship, aligned with Watoto values.
