ABOUT ASONE MINISTRIES

AsOne Ministries is a Christ-centered, non-profit organization committed to making disciples of Jesus and creating sustainable solutions in education, enterprise, health, and agriculture.

We exist to end spiritual, relational, and economic poverty — one community at a time — by investing in holistic development in rural, underserved communities across Uganda. Our mission is rooted in personal and communal transformation that reflects the love and truth of Christ.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Primary Head Teacher provides overall strategic, spiritual, and operational leadership for the school, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, Christ-centered education.

The role holds full accountability for academic performance, staff welfare, student discipline, financial stewardship, and curriculum delivery, while building a school culture rooted in excellence, integrity, and Biblical values.

The Head Teacher works closely with the Director of Studies and AsOne Ministries leadership to translate the organization’s mission into day-to-day school operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership & Management

  • Provide overall strategic direction for the school in line with AsOne Ministries’ mission, vision, and values.
  • Develop, implement, and review the school’s strategic and annual operational plans.
  • Set clear academic, spiritual, and operational targets, and monitor progress against them.
  • Represent the school to parents, government education offices, donors, and the wider community.
  • Ensure compliance with Ministry of Education and Sports guidelines, policies, and regulations.
  • Champion continuous school improvement through data-informed decision-making.

Curriculum Oversight

  • Oversee the planning, delivery, and quality of the national curriculum across all classes.
  • Ensure lesson plans, schemes of work, and assessments align with national and school standards.
  • Monitor teaching quality through classroom observations, lesson audits, and learner assessment data.
  • Guide the integration of Christ-centered values into curriculum delivery across all subjects.
  • Coordinate internal and external examinations, ensuring integrity and timely reporting of results.
  • Identify curriculum gaps and lead initiatives for remedial support and academic improvement.

Staff Welfare & Development

  • Foster a supportive, motivating, and respectful working environment for all staff.
  • Lead recruitment, induction, supervision, and performance appraisal of teaching and support staff.
  • Identify staff training and professional development needs, and coordinate relevant capacity-building.
  • Address staff welfare concerns promptly and fairly, escalating as needed to school leadership.
  • Promote staff spiritual growth through devotions, mentorship, and pastoral support.
  • Mediate and resolve staff conflicts in a manner that upholds unity and mutual respect.

Student Discipline & Welfare

  • Establish and enforce a fair, consistent, and Christ-centered student discipline policy.
  • Provide guidance, counseling, and pastoral care to students, directly and through staff.
  • Oversee student welfare matters, including safety, health, and general wellbeing on school premises.
  • Handle serious disciplinary cases with fairness, confidentiality, and appropriate follow-through.
  • Promote a positive school culture that encourages respect, responsibility, and spiritual growth.

Financial Management

  • Prepare, manage, and monitor the school budget in collaboration with the finance team.
  • Ensure prudent use of school resources, supplies, and facilities.
  • Oversee fee collection, expenditure approvals, and financial record-keeping in line with AsOne policies.
  • Provide timely and accurate financial reports to AsOne Ministries leadership.
  • Support resource mobilization efforts and ensure accountability for donor-funded programs.

Teamwork & Collaboration

  • Build strong working relationships across teaching staff, support staff, and school leadership.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Studies and AsOne Ministries departments to align school programs with the broader mission.
  • Engage parents, guardians, and the local community as active partners in the school’s success.
  • Model collaborative, humble, and servant-hearted leadership consistent with Christian values.
  • Participate actively in school and organizational initiatives, including devotions, fellowships, and outreach programs.

Other Duties

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by AsOne Ministries leadership as needs arise.
