Job Description
Background
The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) is a limited liability company incorporated in Uganda under the Companies Act. UEDCL owns the 33KV and below voltage electricity distribution networks. The company sales and distributes electricity in Uganda as per ERA License issued on 31 December 2024 covering over 135 political districts, operates a modern pole plant at Lugogo, and executes key rural electrification schemes on behalf of the Government of Uganda.
UEDCL is seeking to recruit qualified, competent and highly motivated Ugandans to fill the following positions;
Job Purpose
The quality assurance auditor ensures that installations, materials, and workmanship meet approved technical standards, safety requirements, and organizational procedures. The role focuses on inspection, testing, documentation, and corrective follow- up to maintain high service reliability, customer and stakeholder satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Audit new connections to ensure compliance with UEDCL, ERA and international standards.
- Audit ready boards installations line with the company and regulatory guidelines.
- Audit material reconciliation report per connection against field findings and inventory reports.
- Follow up on resolution of issues raised by regulatory and IVA Verification reports.
- Adhere to safety, environment and social management protocols in line with UEDCL, World Bank and other funding agencies.
- Provide accurate monthly business reports on all activities carried out within the month
Expected Output:
- 100% connection compliance rate with Independent Verification Agency reports.
- Reduction in material and installation failures.
- Inspection coverage and accuracy.
- Reduction of ineligibles.
- Timely re-imbursement of connection funds.
- Compliance with safety standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in field inspections, installations, or quality assurance.
- Electrical Installation skills up to 415V (ERA Permit – class C) is an added advantage.
Competencies
- Understanding of last mile connection installation standards.
- Pole climbing.
- ORHVS and ORLVS training.
- Defensive driving/riding.
