Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services for People with disability in Uganda (CoRSU) was
established in 2006 as a private non-profit, non-governmental organization. CoRSU
provides Orthopaedic Surgery, Plastic Surgery, and Rehabilitation, mainly for children as
well as adults with disability.
CoRSU Hospital seeks to fill the following vacancy:

Job Title: Radiographer
Number of vacancies: 01
Payment Grade: Full-time
Reporting to: Head of Imaging Services
Department: Medical Directorate
Overall job objective: To ensure the effective and efficient provision of Radiography
services, including performing X-ray and ultrasound examinations. The individual shall
also be mandated to provide protection against radiation, taking care of the X-ray
machines/ related resources, report writing /documentation of, and preparing patient
statistics.
Functional Outputs/Activities per key performance area:
Diagnostic Imaging:
▪ Perform a variety of X-ray examinations, including plain films, fluoroscopy, and
contrast studies, and occasionally monitor imaging sessions run by radiology
technologists and technicians.
▪ Ensure proper patient positioning and image acquisition to obtain optimal diagnostic
quality.
▪ Analyze and interpret X-ray images to identify abnormalities and assist in diagnosis.
▪ Prepare comprehensive and accurate radiology reports, including findings,
impressions, and recommendations.
Consult with referring physicians to discuss findings and answer questions.
Patient Care:
Provide consultations to patients’ primary doctors on the results of imaging and
recommend courses of treatment or suggest that additional images be taken.
Explain procedures and answer patient questions to alleviate anxiety and ensure
understanding.
Monitor patient condition during procedures and take necessary precautions to
minimize discomfort.

Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a clean and safe working
environment.
Quality Assurance and Safety:
▪ Participate in quality assurance programs to maintain high standards of image quality
and patient safety.
▪ Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and coordinate with the biomedical engineer
for repairs.
▪ Stay updated on the latest advancements in radiology technology and techniques.
▪ Maintain and troubleshoot X-ray equipment to ensure optimal performance.
▪ Adhering at all times to radiation protection and safety guidelines given by the Atomic
Energy Council (ARC) to protect patients, staff, and oneself from unnecessary radiation
exposure.
▪ Maintain strict infection control measures in line with hospital prevention protocols
▪ Monitor and manage radiation exposure levels.
Data Management and Reporting:
▪ Record patient information, procedure details, and store digital image findings
accurately in the hospital’s data management system.
▪ Assist in collecting and managing radiological data for reporting to key stakeholders.
▪ Perform data entry on a variety of electronic platforms to a high standard of quality.
▪ Support in the preparation of ARC reports.
▪ Provide regular updates on the number of X-rays performed, diagnoses made, and any
equipment-related issues.
Team Management
▪ Provide training and guidance to other radiographers and all cadres of staff involved in
imaging on radiographic techniques, quality control, and radiation safety.
▪ Develop individual work plans in coordination with the head of imaging in preparation
for imaging to create visibility and clarity of tasks or track their progress against these
plans.
Financial Management
To participate in inventory management to help in preparing for departmental needs.
Risk Management
▪ Continuously assess risk inherent in the department.
▪ Develop mitigation measures to curb the risk inherent in the imaging services process,
together with the head of imaging services.
▪ Evaluate the patient’s medical history, the potential benefits of the procedure, and the
associated risks
▪ Review the effectiveness of the mitigation measures on a continuous basis, together
with the head of imaging

Adhering to high ethical standards and maintaining confidentiality is paramount.

Adhere to all CoRSU Policies and Procedures
Required Qualifications and Experience and Work Attributes
A diploma in Radiology is required
A bachelor’s degree in Radiology is an added advantage
Must be registered with the Allied Health Professionals’ Council.
Must have a valid operational license
2 years of experience in a similar role is required
Experience working in a similar hospital setting is an added advantage
Ability to work independently and as part of the team
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of specific imaging modalities relevant to rehabilitation, such as
musculoskeletal assessment.
Strong knowledge of X-ray physics, anatomy, and pathology
