Applications to be submitted in Triplicate on PSC Form No.3 (2008 revised) & ESC Form No.3 (1998 Revised) for education positions, to the Secretary, Nakaseke District
Service Commission, Po Box 451, Luwero-Uganda not later than 2nd December 2026. The applications should be accompanied with 3 recent size photographs of the applicant and Photocopies of Certified Academic Certificates, a copy of your CV and Other Relevant Supporting Documents.

Applications should bear the Title of the Post and Reference Number specified against each post. Serving Officers must route their Applications through their Heads of Department who should be informed of the closing date.

Job Title: Theatre Assistant
Salary Scale: U7
Reports To: Nursing Officer
1. Job Purpose
To prepare and maintain the operating theatre, surgical instruments and equipment in readiness for surgical operations, and provide assistance during minor surgical procedures in accordance with established healthcare standards and infection prevention guidelines.
2. Key Outputs
- Surgical trolleys prepared and arranged for different surgical operations.
- Surgical instruments and equipment properly maintained and sterilized.
- Assistance provided during minor surgical procedures.
- Theatre environment cleaned and maintained in a hygienic condition.
- Theatre waste safely handled and disposed of.
3. Key Functions and Responsibilities
- Preparing and arranging surgical trolleys with the appropriate instruments, supplies and materials required for different surgical operations.
- Cleaning, maintaining and ensuring the proper sterilization and safe storage of surgical instruments and equipment.
- Inspecting surgical instruments and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition and reporting damaged or defective items.
- Assisting medical and nursing staff during minor surgical procedures as assigned.
- Preparing the operating theatre before surgical procedures and ensuring it is properly cleaned and organized after each operation.
- Maintaining cleanliness, hygiene and infection prevention standards within the operating theatre.
- Handling, segregating and safely disposing of theatre waste in accordance with established healthcare waste management guidelines.
- Ensuring proper use and safe custody of theatre instruments, equipment and supplies.
- Replenishing theatre supplies and reporting shortages to the supervising Nursing Officer.
- Observing professional ethics, confidentiality and established health and safety standards.
4. Person Specifications
A. Academic and Professional Qualifications
- Must possess a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with passes in Science subjects or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Must possess a Certificate in Theatre Techniques.
