The role is responsible for monitoring security risks, enforcing security policies and procedures, coordinating incident response and investigations, and promoting a strong security-conscious culture across the Bank’s premises and operations, in line with applicable laws, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
Duty Station: Head Office
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Implement and monitor physical security measures across the Bank’s premises, including branches, offices, ATMs, cash-handling areas, and other designated facilities, ensuring effective access control, protection of assets, and compliance with approved security standards.
- Conduct periodic security risk assessments, inspections, and vulnerability reviews to identify potential threats, assess exposure, recommend mitigation measures, and follow up on the implementation of corrective actions.
- Coordinate the timely reporting, escalation, documentation, and management of security incidents, breaches, suspicious activities, theft, threats, and other security-related events, ensuring appropriate response and implementation of preventive measures.
- Monitor the effective operation and utilization of security systems, including CCTV, alarms, access control systems, and other approved security technologies; coordinate maintenance and repairs and escalate system failures or vulnerabilities for prompt resolution.
- Monitor the performance of contracted security personnel and security service providers, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations, deployment requirements, post orders, service standards, and the Bank’s security procedures. Recommend corrective action where service delivery falls short of agreed standards.
- Conduct or coordinate investigations into security incidents, suspected fraud-related security breaches, theft, unauthorized access, and violations of security procedures, working with relevant internal functions and law enforcement agencies where appropriate. Document findings, preserve evidence, and track agreed corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver security awareness programmes for employees and relevant stakeholders, covering access control, suspicious activities, robbery response, emergency procedures, personal safety, and incident reporting. Coordinate security drills and support preparedness for emergencies and other security threats.
- Support the implementation and enforcement of the Bank’s security policies, procedures, and standards, ensuring compliance with applicable Ugandan laws, relevant regulatory requirements, and internal control frameworks. Conduct periodic compliance checks and maintain appropriate records to support audits and management reviews.
- Support the preparation and monitoring of the security budget, security-related procurement, and contract administration. Maintain accurate records of security equipment, assets, maintenance activities, and expenditure, promoting cost efficiency, value for money, and timely resolution of identified gaps.
- Coordinate with Branch Operations, Facilities Management, Information Security, Risk, Compliance, Human Resources, and other relevant stakeholders on security matters. Support emergency response and business continuity arrangements to minimize disruption and ensure the continued safety of people, assets, and critical banking operations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
