Job Description
- Supports the receipt, storage, movement, inventory counting, and issuance of materials and finished products across warehouse facilities.
- Maintains accurate stock records, enforces inventory rotation rules, and upholds standard warehouse housekeeping and safety conditions.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Check incoming goods against delivery notes, purchase orders, or production records to verify quantity, condition, batch numbers, and visible damage before receiving.
- Place materials into designated warehouse locations according to layout, safety standards, product compatibility, and stock rotation requirements.
- Apply FIFO and FEFO principles to ensure older and earlier expiring stock is issued before newer inventory.
- Update and maintain bin cards, stock ledgers, and inventory transactions within the ERP or warehouse management system.
- Issue goods to production or dispatch teams only upon presentation of authorized documentation.
- Participate in routine cycle counts and scheduled physical stocktaking exercises.
- Report stock discrepancies between system records and physical inventory for immediate investigation.
- Segregate damaged, expired, contaminated, returned, or held stock clearly from usable inventory.
- Monitor warehouse housekeeping, aisle clearance, pallet integrity, product labelling, and safe stacking practices.
Skills
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and inventory data entry.
- Strong numerical skills and attention to detail for verification and stock counting.
- Practical understanding of receiving, document control, and bin card maintenance.
- Working knowledge of inventory rotation methods including FIFO and FEFO.
- Familiarity with warehouse safety standards, pallet handling, and physical stock segregation.
Education Qualifications & Experience
Education Qualifications
- Degree, Higher Diploma, Diploma, National Diploma, National Certificate, certificate, or vocational qualification in Stores Management, Procurement, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, Accounting, Commerce, Inventory Management, Transport Management, or related programs.
- Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with demonstrated numeracy, literacy, and capacity to learn computerized stock systems.
Experience
- No prior work experience required.
- Structured onboarding is provided to learn item codes, receiving documentation, stock rotation, counting techniques, ERP entry, and warehouse safety.
