Job Title: Officer – Literature Bureau

Responsible to: Senior Officer – Literature Bureau
Responsible for: None
Salary Scale: CD 5
Age Limit: 25 – 50 years
Terms of Service: Permanent


Job Purpose
  • Oversee the writing and publishing of literary works.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Initiate the development of literary works.
  • Participate in the training and orienting of writing panels.
  • Ensure that manuscripts/typescripts from authors meet the set standards before submission to the supervisor.
  • Organise writing workshops in liaison with the supervisor.
  • Service the writing panels and authors by furnishing the necessary information and data.
  • Act as secretary to the panel.
  • Participate in the evaluation of literary works and related materials.
  • Participate in literary research geared towards innovations.
  • Write fundable proposals.
  • Participate in identifying members to review literary works in various languages.
  • Undertake other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Personal Specifications

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Languages/Literature/Linguistics or an equivalent from a recognised institution.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Language/Literature/Linguistics OR Bachelor’s Degree in Education with Language and Literature as teaching subjects OR an equivalent from a recognised institution.
  • A qualification in Education is an added advantage.

Experience

  • Must have a minimum of four (4) years’ work experience in developing literary works and/or in publications.
