Job Description
Job Title: Laboratory Technician
Positions: 1
Responsible to: Foreman
Responsible for: None
Salary Scale: CD 7
Age Limit: 25 – 40 years
Terms of Service: Permanent
Job Purpose
- To engage in the production and servicing of science laboratory equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Guide on the quantity, quality and cost of inputs to be used in the production process.
- Participate in the identification and selection of inputs to be used in the production process.
- Assist in identifying hired labour to support the production of materials.
- Ensure quality assurance of input in the production process.
- Carry out minor diagnosis of machinery and equipment and report the need for repairs to the supervisor.
- Train in-service science teachers and laboratory technicians.
- Ensure safety of departmental materials/equipment in the workshop.
- Participate in the budgeting process of the department.
- Undertake the repairs of science equipment and laboratory apparatus in educational institutions.
- Undertake any other duty as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Personal Specifications
Qualifications
- A minimum of a Diploma in Science and Technology – Physics
- OR a minimum of a Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology – Physics from a recognised Institution
Experience
- At least two (2) years’ experience in a science laboratory related field.
