Job Description
JOB TITLE: Senior Eng Radio Planning and Optimization
REPORTING TO: OPTIMIZATION MANAGER
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
TECHNICAL/ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS: Bsc Electrical Engineering/BSc. Telecom Engineering
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Must have a expert level knowledge of telecom with reasonable exposure in Radio Planning and Optimization, especially in wireless technologies like GSM, UMTS, LTE, VOLTE and NR.
Have more than 5 years of experience in Optimization and Planning.
MAIN JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Prepare and execute regional proactive optimization and drive test plans based on clusters and predefined drive test routes
- Supervise and attend to optimization routines tasks for the region
- Provide input to MTN’s annual site rollout plan for assigned region to achieve desired coverage, quality and capacity in a cost-effective way
- Produce work orders for upgrades in time and accurately
- Ensure that cell data is prepared accurately by ensuring that the new site checklist is adhered.
- Ensure that the planning tool is consistently updated to reflect the configurations on the live network.
- Propose and implement proposed parameter changes under the guidance of the Optimization Manager.
- Prepare regional drive test plans and produce related monthly reports
- Be in charge of change management for all radio parameters on nodes for respective region Participate in preparing new frequency plans for assigned region
- Monitor and optimize 2G, 3G, 4G, VOLTE and 5G, base cells in the region.
- Engagement/supervision of suppliers/subcontractors for 2G, 3G, 4G, VoLTE and 5G
- Using planning, configuration and optimization tools such as ASSET, U2020, OSS to design, plan, optimize and configure various network nodes on all technologies.
- Produce weekly and monthly statistics reports focused on performance of the 2G, 3G, 4G, VOLTE and 5G access networks
- Any other responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time.
OTHER PERTINENT INFORMATION (eg. age, sex, shift work, travel etc:
The candidate should be willing to travel a lot performing drive tests and work for long hours
