Nurse

Organisation: Watoto Child Care Ministries
Department: Watoto Neighbourhood
Duty Station: Neighbourhood, Gulu
Contract Type: Full-time Contract
Reports to: Health Care Coordinator

Job Purpose

Support day-to-day clinical activities within the Neighbourhood Clinic to ensure the highest possible standard of medical care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement duties according to medical procedures, organizational standards, standard operating procedures, and medical policies.
  • Participate in daily clinical rounds and ensure clinical issues are resolved promptly to prioritize patient welfare.
  • Identify and contain infections early and implement appropriate infection control measures.
  • Participate in infant feeding calculations and nutritional management of malnourished infants under the guidance of the Health Care Coordinator.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and provide regular clinical updates on infants.
  • Participate in health programs within and outside the Neighbourhood as needed.
  • Participate in colleague-led training to maintain a high standard of care and implement evidence-based education and practice.
  • Coordinate health management and hygiene through regular health education for staff.
  • Perform daily duties assigned by the Health Care Coordinator.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • Diploma in Nursing from a reputable institution.
  • Must be a registered Nurse with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council.
  • At least two years of nursing experience, preferably in a school setting.
  • Must possess a current valid practicing license.
  • Knowledge of basic computer software.
  • Passionate about community healthcare with the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Commitment to working within standardized nursing care guidelines.
  • A committed, consistent, and discipled Christian who demonstrates spiritual maturity and active engagement in discipleship, aligned with Watoto values.
